Accountant I - Pool Analyst
Assist the Financial Accounting department in creating timely and accurate financial statements, multi state franchise reporting, federal tax reporting, and special projects for one or more of the following: the Holding Company, Heartland Security Insurance Group, Inc. or its subsidiaries.
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required. At least one year accounting experience preferred, but not required.
•Must be able to work independently and willing to work extended hours as needed.
•Must be detail oriented and organized and have strong critical thinking skills.
•Ability to learn and apply skills outside the norm.
•Must have above average written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relay information clearly and concisely.
•Must be able to work on multiple projects at the same time and meet deadlines.

To provide technical support for the Account Executive in processing all lines of commercial insurance in accordance with the objectives and procedures outlined in agency procedures. Responsible to the Commercial Line CSR Manager in regard to policy, procedure and practices. Responsible to the Account Executive in regard to daily activity and priority on accounts.
Qualified candidates will possess a high school diploma, preferably college degree. Either holds or willing to obtain a P & C General Lines insurance license. Accounting Intern - Summer (3 openings)
The Accounting Intern will provide accounting and administrative support in all areas of accounting. The Accounting Intern duties include, but not limited to general clerical support, data entry, scanning documents and electronic filing, reconciling accounts, run errands and special projects as requested by management. All other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates will be currently enrolled in a degree plan pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Educational experience requires a minimum of 9 hours of basic and intermediate accounting, with preference given to candidates who have completed 15 or more hours including cost and corporate taxation courses. Other qualifications include strong critical thinking skills, ability to learn at a rapid pace, strong attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet timed deadlines. Other qualifications include advanced to intermediate skills in MS Word and Excel, working knowledge of electronic email, Intranet and Internet, fast, accurate data entry, 10-Key, operates office machines such as a typewriter, fax, scanner and phone system. Must have above average written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relay information clearly and concisely. The Accounting Intern position will require a minimum of 24 hours per week.
